Sacramento search engine optimization
What is search engine optimization (SEO) and why is search engine optimization so important? Or better still, IS it important?
Let's use Wikipedia's definition as it's right on the money. "Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website, or a web page, in search engines via the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results."
There are somewhere between 400 and 500 million searches every day - that's at least 142 billion a year. And there's approximately 255 million websites sporting a colossal 13+ billion web pages. Many in direct competition with you!
So what?
Surveys have shown that most Internet surfers never look past page 1 of their search results - that's 10 listings. If you're even on page 3 of the search results, your business or organization is, for all intents and purposes, invisible. And that means lost customers, lost income, maybe a lost business. More and more people do all their research and selection on the Internet. Your company can now be rejected because of a poor website, or one that never gets found!
Is there an easy solution to SEO?
A politician would answer, "Yes"..... and "No"! Or "We can neither confirm nor deny!"
The good news is there's help and hope.
As part of our fundamental website design process, we consider search engine optimization as we design. The content we write, or polish, directly reflects our goal of a page 1 listing for you. And there are many on-site factors which directly effect your site's ranking.
But on-site optimization is only part of the answer. Google, the world's largest search engine, gives much weight to off-site optimization. This is the time consuming part of search engine optimization. With a simple checklist, it's relatively easy to on-site optimize. However, after that, it's a slow grind. It requires time, patience, knowledge and monitoring. More time than most business owners have to spare.
